Uzma Knouss
After first pursuing a career in education and then one in the corporate world, Uzma soon realized that neither of these pursuits were allowing her to connect to people the way that she wanted to. So she decided to follow her passion to become a psychotherapist and work with adults and couples to provide them with connection and support.
Uzma is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in both Maryland and D.C. who specializes in couples counseling, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, stress, loss, trauma, and multicultural issues. Uzma grew up in the D.C. area and in Africa.
Uzma has worked in a hospital-run school for adolescents in Rockville, a low-fee clinic in Berkeley, CA, and in private practice in the Bay Area, so she brings a broad range of experience working with diverse populations.
In addition to her psychotherapy practice, Uzma is also a Collaborative Divorce Coach, Parent Coach, and Parent Mediator. She enjoys helping move couples through a difficult time in their lives in a healthy way that minimizes trauma and fosters collaboration and a solid co-parenting relationship.
Uzma is committed to providing a safe, warm, and welcoming environment to her clients. She believes that connecting with her clients and building a strong client-therapist relationship, while working collaboratively with clients on their issues, are the keys to a successful therapeutic journey.
